We are zipping through Quaran-Time! Only 3 days to go!
Today we get an extra hour of outside time. We are not sure what happened to the yellow bands, but blue bands (us) get to walk from 2-7 pm at least for today! Very happy about this even though it’s kind of an overcast day and at 16C even cool-ish, but that’s just an incentive to walk faster.
Today’s other discovery is that we have a rich bird life outside of our window. The window is about 2.5 metres across. Between our window and the fence (we are fenced in) there are 4 beech trees and long grasses on the ground. Now that we are paying attention, we are noticing a lot of different birds.
We can see a nest at the top of one tree. This morning, In the next tree over, there were a couple of fluffy looking creatures. At first, we weren’t sure what we were looking at. Fortunately, Jim lugged his SLR camera with his telephoto lens all the way from Michigan, and after studying the creatures for a bit, we thought that they were probably immature birds. They stayed still on the branch for quite a while and then began to preen their fluff. The preening was, in fact, quite effective. After a while, they started to look less downy. And then, we saw a rather small, but more put together bird fly in to feed them! Such a delight to see this, just because we had time to look. And now, they seem to have flown away. Did we just witness the kids leaving home?
There are other bigger birds that have caught our attention. We can’t really hear their voices very distinctly as our windows do not open. Bird watching anywhere is fabulous entertainment!
