Today is gorgeous.  Sunny, mid 70s, gentle breeze.  Notice that the bees at the facility are essential workers and are not required to wear masks!

We feel that we are on the home stretch!  That may be a bit of an overstatement as each lap of our exercise yard is only 0.2 km, and we still have 4 days of quarantine to go.  But we have built quarantine stamina – just look at our average kilometrage.  Amazing that we are not dizzy doing more than 55 laps a day. Occasionally we do have to vary the route (truncate a lap) to avoid getting too close to another walker.

Here’s a podcast recommendation from the New Yorker.  In normal times I hardly ever make time to get through the New Yorker.  Does anyone?  But in quarantine, the one thing we have is time, so I’m catching up.  I have been enjoying the podcast ‘ologies’ by Alie Ward.  She interviews various -ology experts.  It’s billed as a comedic science podcast, but I think that doesn’t do it justice.  Here’s the link to her website https://www.alieward.com/ologies.  Turns out that there are loads of -ologies.  If you have a spare 90 minutes, I particularly recommend the one on Vaccine Infodemiology. https://www.alieward.com/ologies/vaccineinfodemiology,

And the one on agnotology.  https://www.alieward.com/ologies/agnotology.  Agnotology is the study of the making and unmaking of ignorance.  Both of these episodes seem particularly timely.

While we might be using our time for self-improvement while walking and admiring the primroses and bees, we are sincerely hoping that the only test that we have to pass to exit quarantine is a COVID test.  Today’s Wellbeing newsletter left us feeling just slightly inadequate.  Perhaps we may not have been using our time quite as productively as have other returnees.  Check out the art contribution by an overachieving returnee and the math test.  We, of course would have been painting beautiful pictures, but we forgot our art supplies ;).  Please feel free to complete the puzzle on our behalf, just send us the answers.  We’re not total losers, we did figure out which glass got filled first!

It’s been great to Zoom, What’s App, and Facetime with family and friends this past week. You’ve really lifted our spirits.  We miss you and thank you for thinking of us and sharing this part of the adventure with us.  We promise it will get more interesting.
